Abstract

A sounding reference signal transmission method which is efficient in an uplink wireless telecommunications system using a multiple antenna technique and sounding reference signal hopping. A terminal using the multiple antenna technique is equipped with a plurality of antennas, and a base station receives the sounding reference signal transmitted from these antennas and estimates the uplink channel state of each antenna. Moreover, the sounding reference signal performs frequency hopping so that the base station determines the channel condition for the entire bandwidth to which data is transmitted in the uplink system. The sounding reference signal is transmitted through an antenna pattern in which the sounding reference signal can be transmitted through the entire data transmission bandwidth of the uplink system for each antenna of the terminal without additional overhead in this environment.

Claims

1. A method of Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) transmission in a User Equipment (UE) in a communications system using multiple antennas and SRS hopping, the method comprising:

identifying a transmission time point of the SRS;

setting a transmission band for transmitting the SRS;

generating the SRS to be transmitted to a Base Station (BS);

determining an antenna index for transmitting the SRS; and

transmitting the SRS to the BS according to the determined antenna index,

wherein the antenna index is determined by a function based on the transmission time point and an SRS bandwidth configuration.

2. The method of claim 1,

wherein the antenna index is generated by a following set of Equations:

wherein the antenna index is 0110, and

wherein 0 of the antenna index 0110 is an index of a first antenna and 1 of the antenna index 0110 is an index of a second antenna.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein an antenna index 0110 and an antenna index that is a complementary form of the antenna index 0110 are alternately repeated, when a number of the transmission band is a multiple of 4, and wherein “

of the antenna index 0110 is an index of a second antenna.

6. The method of claim 1,

wherein the antenna index is 01 when a number of the transmission band is an odd number, and

wherein 0 of the antenna index 01 is an index of a first antenna and 1 of the antenna index 10 is an index of a second antenna.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the antenna index is further determined based on a parameter for SRS frequency hopping.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the SRS bandwidth configuration is a UE-specific parameter.

9. A method of Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) reception in a base station in a communications system using multiple antennas and SRS hopping, the method comprising:

identifying an SRS reception time point;

receiving the SRS through a transmission band at the SRS reception time point; and

determining which antenna of a User Equipment (UE) transmitted the SRS by using an antenna index,

wherein the antenna index is determined function based on a transmission time point and an SRS bandwidth configuration.

17. An apparatus for transmitting a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) in a mobile communications system using multiple antennas and SRS hopping, the apparatus comprising:

an SRS hopping generator configured to identify a transmission time point and setting a transmission band for transmitting the SRS;

an SRS sequence generator configured to generate an SRS to be transmitted to a base station;

an SRS transmit antenna index generator configured to determine an antenna index for transmitting the SRS; and

an SRS transmit antenna selector configured to transmit the SRS to the base station according to the determined antenna index,

wherein the antenna index is determined by a function based on the transmission time point and an SRS bandwidth configuration.

18. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the antenna index is generated by a following set of Equations:

25. An apparatus for receiving a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) in a mobile communications system using multiple antennas and SRS hopping, the apparatus comprising:

a communication unit

configured to receive the SRS through a transmission band at an SRS reception time point; and

an SRS transmit antenna decision unit configured to determine which antenna of a User Equipment (UE) transmitted the SRS by using an antenna index,

wherein the antenna index is determined by a function based on a transmission time point and an SRS bandwidth configuration.
