1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- establishing a wireless communication link between a computing system and a mobile device to enable an individual to purchase a ticket to travel on a transit vehicle within a particular seat;
sending by the computing system to the mobile device particular data for rendering of a map of the transit vehicle that identifies a status of each of a plurality of seats of the transit vehicle selected from occupied and unoccupied or validated and unvalidated;
receiving, by the computing system from the mobile device, data that at least specifies the particular seat within the transit vehicle based upon a scan of a tag associated with the particular seat by the mobile device, when the mobile device is located within the transit vehicle;
sending, by the computing system to the mobile device, data that at least specifies terms that when accepted permits an individual associated with the mobile device to travel on the transit vehicle within the particular seat;
receiving, by the computing system from the mobile device, data that at least specifies acceptance to the terms to permit the individual associated with the mobile device to travel on the transit vehicle within the particular seat; and
updating, by the computing system, a status associated with the particular seat to reflect acceptance to the terms to permit the individual associated with the mobile device to travel on the transit vehicle within the particular seat.

11. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
-
receiving, by a mobile device from a computing system, particular data for rendering of a map of a transit vehicle that identifies a status of each of a plurality of seats of the transit vehicle selected from occupied and unoccupied; receiving, by the mobile device based upon a scan of a tag associated with a particular seat within the transit vehicle, and when the mobile device is located within the transit vehicle, particular data that at least identifies the particular seat; sending, by the mobile device to the computing system that is different than the mobile device, at least the particular data that at least identifies the particular seat; and receiving, by the mobile device from the computing system, data that at least specifies terms that when accepted authorizes an individual associated with the mobile device to travel on the transit vehicle within the particular seat. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14)
