  • receiving, by a computing device, data that represents a plurality of items, each item in the plurality of items being assigned to a respective group of items from a plurality of different groups of items such that the items in the plurality of items are assigned among the plurality of different groups of items;

    generating a grouped list of the plurality of items that arranges the plurality of different groups of items into a particular order;

    displaying, in a first region of a touchscreen display of the computing device, a first portion of the grouped list that includes graphical representations for a first subset of items in the plurality of items;

    displaying a scrolling control that is selectable by user input to scroll through the plurality of items by cycling from group of item to group of item without scrolling among every item in the groups of items that have been cycled;

    receiving an indication that a first user input gesture was performed in the first region of the touchscreen display by swiping over a display of an item from among the items in the first portion of the grouped list without selecting the scrolling control, and in response, scrolling to a display of a second portion of the grouped list that includes graphical representations for a second subset of items in the plurality of items, wherein the computing device is configured to permit user input gestures performed in the first region of the touchscreen display to scroll among every item in the grouped list; and

    receiving an indication that a second user input gesture selected the scrolling control and swiped across the touchscreen display while the scrolling control is selected, and in response, scrolling through the grouped list by an amount that is based on a distance that the second user input gesture swiped across the touchscreen display and by cycling from group of item to group of item, without scrolling among every item in the groups of items that have been cycled.
