Abstract

A system, method and apparatus for a gaming system is provided. The gaming system includes a rewards server and a separate gaming or slot accounting server. The system may further include a separate player tracking server. The system further includes one or more game machines. The game machines may include a base game, rewards tracking module, and a game management module. Further details will be apparent from the description, drawings and claims.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

requesting a bonus transfer from a first server at a game management unit of a first gaming device, the first server having a slot accounting function;

receiving the bonus transfer from the first server at the game management unit of the first gaming device;

requesting a bonus transfer from a second server at a system processor of the first gaming device, the second server having a rewards system function;

receiving the bonus transfer from the second server at the system processor of the first gaming device;

transferring the bonus transfer from the second server to the game management unit of the first gaming device;

combining the bonus transfer from the second server and the bonus transfer from the first server at the game management unit of the first gaming device to provide a combined bonus transfer;

receiving marketing data from a third server produced by the third server interacting with the second server to customize marketing data at the system processor of the first gaming device;

presenting marketing data to a player at the first gaming device; and

playing a bonus game at the first gaming device using the combined bonus transfer as play points for the bonus game.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein:

the bonus of the first server is tied to activity of the first gaming device.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein:

the bonus of the second server is tied to activity of an identified player at the first gaming device.

4. The method of claim 3 further comprising:

communicating player authentication data between the second server and the system processor.

5. The method of claim 4 further comprising:

communicating reward threshold data between the second server and the system processor, the reward threshold data tracked as reward points separate from play points of the bonus transfer of the second server; and

communicating reward threshold data between the system processor and the game management unit.

6. The method of claim 5 further comprising:

communicating game data from the system processor to the second server; and

accumulating player rewards at the second server responsive to game data, the player rewards accumulated separately as threshold points and play points, the play points used as currency to play bonus games, the threshold points used as currency to achieve rewards thresholds.

7. The method of claim 6 further comprising:

triggering bonus games responsive to messages from the second server, the messages from the second server responsive to achievement of rewards thresholds by the player, the rewards thresholds tracked through use of threshold points.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein:

the first server provides a progressive bonus.

9. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

requesting a second bonus transfer from the first server at a game management unit of a second gaming device;

receiving the second bonus transfer from the first server at the game management unit of the second gaming device;

requesting a second bonus transfer from the second server at a system processor of the second gaming device;

receiving the second bonus transfer from the second server at the system processor of the second gaming device;

transferring the second bonus transfer from the second server to the game management unit of the second gaming device;

combining the second bonus transfer from the second server and the second bonus transfer from the first server at the game management unit of the second gaming device to provide a second combined bonus transfer;

receiving second marketing data from the third server produced by the third server interacting with the second server to customize second marketing data at the system processor of the second gaming device;

presenting second marketing data to a player at the second gaming device; and

playing a second bonus game at the second playing device using the second combined bonus transfer as play points for the second bonus game.

10. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

triggering a bonus game responsive to a message from the second server, the message from the second server being responsive to achievement of rewards reward thresholds by the player at the first gaming device and the player at the second gaming device.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein:

playing the bonus game as a collective bonus game at the first gaming device and the second gaming device.

12. A method comprising:

receiving identification of a player;

communicating identification of the player to a second server;

requesting a bonus transfer from a first server at a game management unit of a first gaming device, the first server having a slot accounting function;

receiving the bonus transfer from the first server at the game management unit of the first gaming device;

requesting a bonus transfer from a second server at a system processor of the first gaming device, the second server having a rewards system function;

receiving the bonus transfer from the second server at the system processor of the first gaming device;

transferring the bonus transfer from the second server to the game management unit of the first gaming device;

combining the bonus transfer from the second server and the bonus transfer from the first server at the game management unit of the first gaming device to provide a combined bonus transfer;

receiving marketing data from a third server produced by the third server interacting with the second server to customize marketing data at the system processor of the first gaming device;

presenting marketing data to a player at the first gaming device; and

playing a bonus game using the combined bonus transfer as play points for the bonus game.

13. The method of claim 12 further comprising:

triggering the bonus game responsive to a message from the second server, the message from the second server being responsive to achievement of a reward threshold by the player.

14. The method of claim 13 further comprising:

communicating game data from the system processor to the second server; and

accumulating player rewards at the second server responsive to game data.

15. The method of claim 12 wherein:

bonus games are triggered responsive to a threshold achieved based on results of a base game.

16. The method of claim 12 wherein:

the first server provides a progressive bonus.

17. A method comprising:

receiving identification of players at a plurality of gaming devices;

communicating identification of the players to a second server;

requesting a bonus transfer from a first server at a game management unit of a gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices, the first server having a slot accounting function;

receiving the bonus transfer from the first server at the game management unit of the gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices;

requesting a bonus transfer from the second server at a system processor of the gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices, the second server having a rewards system function;

receiving the bonus transfer from the second server at the system processor of the gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices;

transferring the bonus transfer from the second server to the game management unit of the gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices;

combining the bonus transfer from the second server and the bonus transfer from the first server at the game management unit of the gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices to provide a combined bonus transfer;

receiving marketing data from a third server produced by the third server interacting with the second server to customize marketing data at the system processor of the gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices;

presenting marketing data to a player of the gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices; and

playing a bonus game using the combined bonus transfer at the gaming device of the plurality of gaming devices as play points for the bonus game.

18. The method of claim 17 further comprising:

communicating game data from the system processors of the gaming devices of the plurality of gaming devices to the second server; and

accumulating player rewards at the second server responsive to game data.

19. The method of claim 18 further comprising:

triggering bonus games selectively at the gaming devices of the plurality of gaming devices responsive to messages from the second server, the messages from the second server responsive to achievement of rewards thresholds by players of the gaming devices of the plurality of gaming devices.

20. The method of claim 19 wherein:

the bonus games are collective games played among gaming devices of the plurality of gaming devices receiving triggers for bonus games.
