1. A method for identifying a user-selected object in broadcast television programming, the method comprising:
- in a television;
presenting the broadcast television programming on a television screen, the broadcast television programming comprising user-selectable objects;
determining an on-screen pointing location pointed to on the television;
identifying a user-selectable object being pointed to in the presented broadcast television programming, at least in part, on the determined on-screen pointing location; and
communicating information from the broadcast television programming indicating the identified user-selectable object to a television remote control device.
