Proximity switch having wrong touch feedback
First Claim
1. A method of activating a proximity switch assembly comprising:
- sensing activation of one or more proximity switches;
detecting an allowed activation of one of the proximity switches;
performing an action in response to the detected allowed activation;
detecting an attempted activation of the one or more proximity switches that is not allowed;
generating a first user perceived feedback indicative of the activation that is not allowed; and
generating a different second user perceived feedback indicative of completion of the action.

Abstract
A proximity switch assembly and method are provided having wrong touch feedback. The switch includes a plurality of proximity switches each including proximity sensors providing a sense activation field. Control circuitry processes the activation field of each proximity switch to sense activation, detects an allowed activation of one of the proximity switches and further detects an attempted activation that is not allowed. The switch further includes an output coupled to a device to perform a function when an allowed activation is detected. The switch includes one or more user perceived feedback devices for generating user perceived feedback when an attempted activation that is not allowed is detected.

9. A method of activating a proximity switch assembly comprising:
-
sensing activation of one or more proximity switches; detecting an allowed activation of one of the proximity switches; performing an action in response to the detected allowed activation; sensing activation of two or more proximity switches; detecting attempted simultaneous activation of two or more of the proximity switches; and generating a user perceived feedback indicative of the simultaneous activation of the two or more proximity switches.

11. A proximity switch assembly, said assembly comprising:
-
a plurality of proximity switches each providing a sense activation field; control circuitry processing the activation field of each proximity switch to sense activation, said control circuitry detecting an allowed activation of one of the proximity switches and further detecting an attempted activation that is not allowed; an output coupled to a device to perform a function when an allowed activation is detected; and a feedback device for generating a first user perceived feedback when an attempted activation that is not allowed is detected;
wherein the feedback device generates a second different user perceived feedback indicative of completion of the action. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
