1. A method of providing an emergency signal to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
- receiving scheduling information, wherein the scheduling information is for receiving emergency system information messages in segmented and non-segmented earthquake and tsunami warning service (ETWS)-system information blocks (ETWS-SIBS), wherein the segmented ETWS-SIBS are segmented based on the size of the ETWS-SIB, wherein the segmented and non-segmented ETWS-SIBS and the non-emergency system SIBS are interleaved, and wherein the segmented and non-segmented ETWS-SIBS and the non-emergency system SIBS are not received simultaneously;
receiving the ETWS-SIBs using the scheduling information, andprocessing the ETSW-SIBs to acquire the emergency system information messages.

Abstract
A method and apparatus for providing an emergency signal to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU is configured to receive a system information message including an emergency message notification and emergency system information messages, wherein the system information messages are segmented and overlap non-emergency system information messages. The WTRU is further configured to process the emergency information messages.
