1. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus, comprising:

  • an image generating unit configured to receive, from an imaging region of an object, magnetic resonance signals generated as a result of a transmission of an RF pulse and the image generating unit also being configured to generate image data of the object, based on the magnetic resonance signals received;

    an RF output measuring unit coupled to an RF transmitter and configured to measure the RF pulse currently being transmitted and the RF output measuring unit also configured to output an energy control value representative thereof;

    at least one energy control value correcting unit, configured to perform a correction operation, on said energy control value, that was output by the RF output measuring unit, in order to produce a modified energy control value, according to plural imaging conditions which were set before diagnostic MRI data acquisition began; and

    at least one SAR (specific absorption rate) calculating unit configured to calculate at least one SAR value based on the produced modified energy control value;

    wherein the at least one energy control value correcting unit is configured to perform respectively different correction operations, in order to produce the modified energy control value, depending on the imaging region of the object during use of the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus.
