1. A method to collect and communicate energy data for analysis, the method comprising:

  • receiving with a first analog input/output (I/O) module first energy data associated with a first electrical circuit, the first energy data having a first protocol;

    sampling the first energy data at a first sampling rate to generate first digital energy data, wherein the first sampling rate is substantially continuous;

    receiving with a second analog I/O module second energy data associated with a second electrical circuit, the second energy data having a second protocol different from the first protocol;

    sampling the second energy data at a second sampling rate to generate second digital energy data, wherein the second sampling rate is substantially continuous; and

    transmitting reporting digital data over a network having a network protocol different from the first protocol and the second protocol, wherein the reporting digital data comprises at least one of the first digital energy data and the second digital energy data, wherein the reporting digital data is transmitted at a reporting rate that is decoupled from the first sampling rate and the second sampling rate, and further wherein the reporting digital data enables monitoring of current energy parameters.
