1. A method for delivering an electrical stimulus to an individual, the method comprising administering the electrical stimulus to a tissue of the individual via an implantable medical device, the implantable medical device comprising:

  • an assembly block; and

    a plurality of leads extending from the assembly block, wherein each of the plurality of leads includes at least one electrode, wherein the plurality of leads are configured such that the at least one electrode of each of the plurality of leads are distributed within a three-dimensional tissue space, wherein the assembly block and the plurality of leads are contained within a biodegradable encapsulant during implantation of the implantable medical device such that the at least one electrode of each of the plurality of leads assume a first distribution within the biodegradable encapsulant, and wherein the at least one electrode of each of the plurality of leads are configured to assume a second distribution upon degradation of the biodegradable encapsulant.
