1. A device for collapsing a stented bioprosthetic valve, the device comprising:

  • a first section and a second section separable from the first section, the first section and the second section together defining a body, the body having a first end, an opposed second end, and a length extending from the first end to the second end, the second section being associated with the first section to at least partially enclose an internal cavity formed in the body by the first and second sections, the internal cavity tapering from a first cross-section at an open insertion portion at the first end of the device to a second cross-section at an open exit portion at the second end of the device, the first cross-section being greater than the second cross-section;

    a collar assembled in the exit portion of the internal cavity, so that a stented bioprosthetic valve may be inserted into the insertion portion and collapsed as it enters the collar at the exit portion; and

    wherein the collar has a constant internal diameter and a varying outside diameter configured to fit within the first and second sections such that the collar is constrained from movement along the length of the body.
