Instrumentation for knee resection
First Claim
1. A system for performing a resection of a selected portion of an anatomy with a resection instrument, the system comprising:
- a first member fixable to the selected portion of the anatomy;
a first movement defining portion defined by the first member;
a second member configured to cooperate with the first member; and
a second movement defining portion of the second member;
wherein the first movement defining portion and the second movement defining portion are operable to allow the second member to be moveable relative to the first member from a first position to a second position;
wherein the resection instrument is positionable relative to the second member in the first position and in the second position to form a selected resection of the selected portion of the anatomy; and
wherein the first movement defining portion and the second movement defining portion are operable to allow the second member to be slidably and rotatably moveable relative to the first member.

Abstract
A system for performing a resection of a selected portion of an anatomy with a resection instrument. The system includes a first member, a first movement defining portion defined by the first member, a second member, and a second movement defining portion of the second member. The first member is fixable to the selected portion of the anatomy. The second member is configured to cooperate with the first member. The first movement defining portion and the second movement defining portion are operable to allow the second member to be moveable relative to the first member from a first position to a second position. The resection instrument is positionable relative to the second member in the first position and in the second position to form a selected resection of the selected portion of the anatomy.

8. A system for resecting a proximal tibial portion with a resection instrument, the system comprising:
-
a main guide portion; a first dynamic connection portion included with the main guide portion, the first dynamic connection portion is a curved groove defined in the main guide portion; a dynamic guide member; a guide surface defined by the dynamic guide member and configured to guide the resection instrument during resection of the proximal tibial portion; and a second dynamic connection portion included with the dynamic guide member, the first and the second dynamic connection portions are configured to cooperate with one another to guide movement of the dynamic guide member and the guide surface; wherein the first and the second dynamic connection portions are configured such that cooperation therebetween slidably and rotatably guides movement of the dynamic member and the guide surface. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11)

12. A method for resecting a proximal portion of a tibia comprising:
-
fixing a main guide portion including a first dynamic connection portion to the tibia; coupling a dynamic guide member to the main guide portion through cooperation between the first dynamic connection portion and a second dynamic connection portion of the dynamic guide member; guiding a resection instrument to the tibia with a guide surface of the dynamic guide member; and sliding and rotating the dynamic guide member to guide the resection instrument to various portions of the tibia. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
