1. A filter component having a first end, a second end, and a longitudinal axis extending between the first and second ends, the filter component comprising:

  • a first set of radially expanding legs, each leg of the first set of legs coupled to and extending continuously away from the first end of the filter component along a longitudinal direction toward the second end of the filter component, wherein each leg of the first set of legs is coupled to the second end of the filter component, and each leg of the first set of legs comprising an intermediate portion defined as the portion of each leg of the first set of legs with the greatest radial displacement from the longitudinal axis and wherein segments of each leg of the first set of legs located on both sides of the intermediate portion of each leg of the first set of legs extend from the intermediate portion of each leg of the first set of legs toward the longitudinal axis; and

    a second set of radially expanding legs, each leg of the second set of legs coupled to the second end of the filter component, and each leg of the second set of legs comprising an intermediate portion defined as the portion of each leg of the second set of legs with the greatest radial displacement from the longitudinal axis and wherein segments of each leg of the second set of legs located on both sides of the intermediate portion of each leg of the second set of legs extend from the intermediate portion of each leg of the second set of legs toward the longitudinal axis;

    wherein the intermediate portions of the first set of legs are displaced a distance along the longitudinal axis of the filter component from the intermediate portions of the second set of legs andwherein the first end of the filter component defines a proximal-most portion of the filter component and the second end of the filter component defines a distal-most portion of the filter component.
