Abstract
A smartphone app that causes a smartphone device to actively control a configuration of footwear structural elements located in a footwear sole or removable inner sole insert of a user of the smartphone device, and one or more sensors located in either one or both of the sole or the removable inner sole insert the user'"'"'s footwear and a sensor including a gyroscope and/or an accelerometer in the smartphone device; and the footwear structural elements being configured for computer control by the smartphone device when the smartphone app is operating on the smartphone device; and wherein instructions of the smartphone app, when executed, cause the smartphone device to, first, process measurement data received from the footwear and smartphone sensors and, second, use the processed measurement data to alter a configuration of the footwear structural elements based on the output from processing measurement data.

17. A smartphone or other mobile computer device implemented method executed by a smartphone or other computer device including at least a sensor including a gyroscope and/or an accelerometer, that causes the device to actively control, by a wired or wireless connection, a configuration of footwear with sensors, said configuration comprising:
-
one or more structural elements located in a footwear sole or a removable inner sole insert of both shoes or other footwear of a user of the smartphone or other mobile computer device, and one or more sensors located in either the sole or the removable inner sole insert of both shoes or other footwear of the device user; and the footwear structural elements being configured for control by the device when the app is operating on the device; and said method comprising the following steps wherein instructions of the app, when executed, cause the device to; first, control the footwear structural elements by establishing a first configuration setting of said footwear structural elements for at least a first test during locomotion or other physical activity of the device user; second, control the footwear structural elements by establishing a second configuration setting of said footwear structural elements that is different from the first configuration setting for at least a second test during locomotion or other physical activity of the device user; third, process measurement data from the first and second tests received from the sensors located in both footwear soles or inserts and from the sensor in the device; fourth, compare the data from the first and second tests with a preferred data set; and fifth, select one said configuration setting of the footwear structural elements from the first and second test that produced data that is closest to matching the preferred data set. - View Dependent Claims (26)
