1. A surgical anchor system comprising:
- an elongated member comprising a cavity that contains a material selected from one of a ferrous, ferromagnetic and magnetic materials;
a surgical tool coupled to the elongated member and partially bounded by a portion of the elongated member, the surgical tool being coupled to the elongated member such that a distal end of the surgical tool can travel from a collapsed position to a non-collapsed position through a non-linear path; and
an external casing comprising a magnetic stack;
where the elongated member and the casing are configured to generate a coupling force of at least 500 grams at a distance of 10 millimeters between them; and
where the elongated member is adapted to be positioned within a patient'"'"'s abdominal cavity using the casing positioning outside the patient'"'"'s abdominal cavity.

Abstract
The present invention is a device and system for manipulating a surgical tool at an intended location, e.g., a confined or inaccessible space, which includes a surgical anchor having at least one opening, wherein the opening provides a catch for a pin; and at least one anchor point to position and orient a surgical tool inside a human body. The apparatus and system of the present invention allows for the use of multiple intra-abdominal surgical tools inserted through a single incision.
