1. A method for monitoring a health condition comprising:
- positioning a monitoring device in or on a patient, the monitoring device includingan optical sensor for sensing a relative position of a vessel,a Doppler sensor for sensing a velocity of a fluid flowing in the vessel, anda computing device for operating the optical sensor and the Doppler sensor to obtain parameter values, the computing device including one or more protocols for diagnosing and responding to the health condition,an energy storage device to power the optical sensor, the Doppler sensor, and the computing device, andone housing, the energy storage device, the optical sensor, the Doppler sensor, and the computing device being enclosed in the one housing;
by the monitoring device;
computing one or more hemodynamic parameter, wherein the hemodynamic parameter includes one of oxygen saturation, stroke volume, blood pressure and cardiac output;
diagnosing the health condition based on the one or more hemodynamic parameters; and
performing a function responsive to the health condition.
