1. A processing system for a display device, the processing system comprising:

  • a driver module comprising driver circuitry, the driver module is configured to receive display frame updates and to drive a plurality of common electrodes for capacitive sensing and updating the display device,wherein the driver module is configured to (i) drive at least a first one of the common electrodes for updating, during a first time period of a first display frame, the display device based on at least a first portion of the first display frame, (ii) drive a transmitter electrode for capacitive sensing during a second time period of the first display frame, the transmitter electrode comprising at least one of the plurality of common electrodes, and (iii) drive at least a second one of the common electrodes for updating, during a third time period of the first display frame, the display device based on at least a second portion of the first display frame, wherein the second time period is at least as long as the first time period and occurring after the first time period and before the third time period,wherein receiving the display frame updates comprises controlling receipt of the display frame updates to pause updating of the display device during the second time period;

    a receiver module coupled to a plurality of receiver electrodes and configured to receive resulting signals while driving the transmitter electrode during the second time period; and

    a determination module configured to determine positional information for an input object based on the resulting signals.
