Abstract

A location aware user interface on a wireless handset is described. The location aware user interface comprises a location module configured to transmit a location message to a remote server via a network. The remote server is configured to determine whether the wireless handset is within a geofence. The user interface further comprises a display module configured to display at least one content item associated with the geofence. The user interface also comprises an input module configured to receive a user-created content item and transmit the received user-created content item to the remote server. The remote server is configured to associate the content item with the geofence in which the wireless handset is located.

Claims

1. A location aware user interface on a wireless device, the wireless device comprising:

a location module that transmits a location message to a remote positioning module, the remote positioning module determining whether the wireless device is within a geofence;

a display module that displays at least one content item associated with the geofence, the at least one content item received from a remote content module;

an input module that receives a user-created content item and transmits the user-created content item to the remote content module, the remote content module associating the user-created content item with the geofence in which the wireless device is located, wherein the remote content module transmits the user-created content item to a second wireless device when the second wireless device is within the geofence; and

wherein the user-created content item is transmitted to the second wireless device independent of the wireless device being proximate to the second wireless device.

2. The user interface of claim 1, wherein the display module displays at least one content item associated with a user profile field.

3. The user interface of claim 1, wherein the display module displays at least one content item associated with a time range.

4. The user interface of claim 1, wherein the display module displays the position of the wireless device on a map.

5. The user interface of claim 1, wherein the input module receives a designation of additional destinations for the user-created content item to be posted.

6. The user interface of claim 5, wherein the additional destinations comprise a premises.

7. The user interface of claim 5, wherein the additional destinations comprise a social network.

8. The user interface of claim 1, wherein the input module receives a rating of the displayed at least one content item, and transmits the rating to the remote content module.

9. A location aware content delivery system, comprising:

a positioning module that receives a location message from a first wireless device and determines if the first wireless device is within a geofence;

a content module that transmits at least one content item associated with the geofence to the first wireless device;

the content module receiving a user-created content item from the first wireless device;

the content module storing the user-created content item in association with the geofence in which the first wireless device is located, wherein the content module transmits the user-created content item to a second wireless device when the second wireless device is within the geofence; and

wherein the content module transmits the user-created content item to the second wireless device independent of the first wireless device being proximate to the second wireless device.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the content module filters a plurality of content items according to one or more fields of a user profile to select the at least one content item transmitted to the first wireless device.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein the content module filters a plurality of content items according to a time range to select the at least one content item transmitted to the first wireless device.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein the content module filters a plurality of content items according to a relevance weight value associated with each content item to select the at least one content item transmitted to the first wireless device.

13. The system of claim 9, wherein the content module receives a designation of additional destinations for the user-created content item to be posted.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the additional destinations comprise a premises.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the additional destinations comprise a social network.

16. The system of claim 9, wherein the content module receives from the second wireless device a rating for the user-created content generated by the first wireless device, wherein the content module receives the rating after the user-created content item is transmitted to the second wireless device.

17. A method for location aware content delivery, comprising:

receiving a location signal with a positioning module from a first wireless device via a network;

determining with the positioning module if the first wireless device is within a geofence;

filtering with a content module a plurality of content items to select content items associated with the geofence where the first wireless device is located;

transmitting at least one content item associated with the geofence from the content module to the first wireless device;

receiving a user-created content item on the content module from the first wireless device;

storing the user-created content item in association with the geofence on the content module;

transmitting the user-created content item to a second wireless device when the second wireless device is within the geofence; and

transmitting the user-created content item independent of the second wireless device being proximate to the first wireless device.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

filtering with the content module content items to select content items associated with a user profile field, and

transmitting at least one content item associated with the user profile field from the content module to the first wireless device.

19. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

filtering with the content module content items to select content items associated with a time range, and

transmitting at least one content item associated with the time range from the content module to the first wireless device.

20. The method of claim 17, further comprising filtering content items according to a relevance weight value associated with each content item.

21. The method of claim 17, further comprising receiving with the content module from the first wireless device a designation of additional destinations for the user-created content item to be posted.

22. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

receiving with the content module from the first wireless device a rating of the displayed at least one content item.
