Abstract

An automated banking machine operates to cause financial transfers responsive at least in part to data read from data bearing records. The automated banking machine includes a card reader that is operative to read card data corresponding to financial accounts from user cards. The card data is linked in at least one data store to data indicating that the card data corresponds to a financial account that is authorized to be used to conduct at least one transaction through use of the automated banking machine. The automated banking machine may be used to carry out financial transfers involving financial accounts by users who are determined to be authorized users of such accounts.

Claims

1. Apparatus comprising:

an automated banking machine configured to cause financial transfers responsive at least in part to data read from data bearing records, including

a card reader, wherein the card reader is configured to read data from user cards, wherein the data corresponds to financial accounts,

at least one automated banking machine input device, wherein the at least one automated banking machine input device is configured to receive machine user inputs,

a cash dispenser, wherein the cash dispenser is operative to selectively cause cash stored in the machine to be accessible to machine users,

at least one automated banking machine computer associated with the automated banking machine, wherein the at least one automated banking machine computer is in operative connection with the card reader, the at least one automated banking machine input device and the cash dispenser, wherein the at least one automated banking machine computer is configured to cause

the card reader to read card data from a user card,

a determination to be made that the card data corresponds to a financial account upon which at least one transaction is authorized to be conducted through operation of the machine,

the cash dispenser to dispense cash responsive at least in part to the determination, and

the financial account to be assessed a value associated with the dispensed cash,

wherein the at least one automated banking machine input device is configured to receive at least one check related input, wherein the at least one check related input corresponds to a check transaction, wherein the at least one check related input corresponds to data received by a mobile device from a remote computer responsive at least in part to check data corresponding to a check sent from the mobile device to the remote computer via communication other than through the automated banking machine,

wherein the machine is configured to operate responsive at least in part to the received at least one check related input to cause the financial account to be credited with an amount that corresponds to the check.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1

wherein the at least one check related input is output through the mobile device responsive at least in part to the check data sent to the remote computer in the check transaction,

wherein the at least one check related input includes at least one of a manual input, a scanned input or a wireless input.

3. The apparatus according to claim 2

wherein the check data includes at least one check image of at least one side of the check captured via a camera of the mobile device.

4. The apparatus according to claim 3

wherein the at least one check related input uniquely corresponds to the at least one check image.

5. The apparatus according to claim 4

wherein the at least one input device is configured to receive at least one user input corresponding to the check amount,

and wherein the automated banking machine is operative to cause data corresponding to the check amount and at least a portion of the at least one check related input to be sent to at least one further remote computer other than the remote computer.

6. The apparatus according to claim 5

wherein the automated banking machine does not include a check imager.

7. The apparatus according to claim 6

wherein the automated banking machine is operative to cause cash to be dispensed from the automated banking machine responsive at least in part to at least one communication received from the at least one further remote computer.

8. The apparatus according to claim 7

wherein the dispensed cash has an associated value, and wherein the automated banking machine is operative to cause the financial account to be assessed the associated value responsive at least in part to communication with the at least one further remote computer.

9. The apparatus according to claim 1

wherein the at least one check related input corresponds to at least one bar code output from the mobile device, wherein the at least one bar code output is provided responsive at least in part to the check data sent in the check transaction,

wherein the at least one input device includes a bar code scanner,

wherein the at least one check related input includes at least one bar code scanned through operation of the bar code scanner from a display of the mobile device.

10. The apparatus according to claim 1

wherein the at least one check related input corresponds to at least one wireless signal from the mobile device, wherein the at least one wireless signal is provided responsive at least in part to the check data sent in the check transaction,

wherein the at least one input device includes a wireless port,

wherein the at least one check related input includes the at least one wireless signal received by the wireless port from the mobile device.

11. Apparatus comprising:

an automated banking machine configured to cause financial transfers responsive at least in part to data read from data bearing records, including;

a card reader, wherein the card reader is configured to read data from user cards, wherein the data corresponds to financial accounts,

at least one automated banking machine input device, wherein the at least one automated banking machine input device is configured to receive inputs from machine users,

a cash dispenser, wherein the cash dispenser is configured to selectively cause cash stored in the machine to be dispensed to machine users,

at least one automated banking machine computer associated with the automated banking machine, wherein the at least one automated banking machine computer is in operative connection with the card reader, the at least one automated banking machine input device and the cash dispenser, and wherein the at least one automated banking machine computer is configured to cause

the card reader to read card data from a user card,

a computer determination to be made that the card data corresponds to a financial account upon which at least one transaction is authorized to be conducted,

wherein at least one financial transaction is authorized to be conducted on the financial account through operation of the machine responsive at least in part to the determination,

wherein the at least one automated banking machine input device is configured to receive at least one check related input, wherein the at least one check related input corresponds to check data associated with a financial check having a check amount, received via a mobile device from a remote computer responsive at least in part to check data corresponding to the check sent to the remote computer other than through the automated banking machine computer,

wherein the at least one automated banking machine computer is configured to operate responsive at least in part to the at least one check related input, to cause the cash dispenser to dispense cash generally corresponding to the check amount.

12. The apparatus according to claim 11

wherein the check data corresponds to at least one image of at least one side of the check captured through operation of a camera of the mobile device,

wherein the check related data uniquely corresponds to the at least one image of the check.

13. The apparatus according to claim 12

wherein the at least one input device includes at least one of a bar code scanner or a wireless port,

and wherein the check related data corresponds to at least one of a bar code output on a display of a mobile device and at least one RF signal output from the mobile device.

14. The apparatus according to claim 13

wherein the at least one automated banking machine computer is operative to cause data corresponding to the check related data to be sent to a further remote computer other than the remote computer.

15. The apparatus according to claim 14

wherein the cash dispensed is caused to operate responsive at least in part to the further remote computer.

16. The apparatus according to claim 14

wherein the data corresponding to the at least one check related input is usable to identify the at least one image of the at least one side of the check.

17. Apparatus comprising:

an automated banking machine configured to cause financial transfers responsive at least in part to data read from data bearing records, including;

a reader, wherein the reader is configured to read data corresponding to financial accounts,

at least one input device,

at least one banking machine computer associated with the automated banking machine, wherein the at least one banking machine computer is in operative connection with the reader and the at least one input device, wherein the at least one banking machine computer is configured to cause,

a computer determination that data read through operation of the reader corresponds to a financial account authorized to conduct a financial transaction through operation of the machine,

the at least one input device to receive at least one input including mobile device received check identifying data, the mobile device received check identifying data received via a mobile device from at least one remote computer responsive at least in part to at least one image of at least one side of a check sent from the mobile device,

responsive at least in part to the determination and the at least one input, financial value to be provided corresponding to the check at least in part through operation of the machine.

18. The apparatus according to claim 17

wherein the at least one input is usable to identify the at least one image of the at least one side of the check.

19. The apparatus according to claim 18

wherein the check has an associated check amount,

wherein the at least one banking machine computer is configured to cause the financial account to be credited with financial value corresponding to the check amount.

20. The apparatus according to claim 18

wherein the automated banking machine includes a cash dispenser,

wherein the check has an associated check amount,

wherein the at least one automated banking machine computer is configured to cause the cash dispenser to dispense cash having financial value corresponding to the check amount.
