1. An intravaginal urinary incontinence device comprising:

  • a) a stent comprising an elastic material and having a substantially hollow working portion having a longitudinal axis and first and second generally parallel opposed faces defined by a plurality of at least three longitudinally extending struts, each strut having a length and being substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis to extend in and at least partially define either the first or second generally parallel opposed face and wherein the opposed faces defined by the plurality of longitudinally extending struts are arranged and configured to contact a user'"'"'s vaginal tissue along substantially all of the length of the plurality of longitudinally extending struts, wherein the first and second opposed faces are substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis and wherein the working portion has a diameter measured as a maximum distance between the opposed faces; and

    b) an anchoring portion to maintain the stent in place during use, the anchoring portion having a width dimension,wherein the anchoring portion has at least one member extending beyond at least one end of the working portion capable of engaging vaginal walls such that during use, the width dimension of the anchoring portion is larger than the diameter of the working portion, and a withdrawal element is operatively connected to and extends from the working portion.
