1. A system for predicting water characteristics at a water facility, the water facility being located geographically downstream from a water monitoring location, the water flowing between the water monitoring location and the water facility, the system comprising:

  • a sensor assembly disposed at the water monitoring location and configured to generate sensor data relating to a flow rate and a composition of the water present at the water monitoring location;

    transmission means configured to transmit the sensor data from the sensor assembly to an analyzing unit,the analyzing unit being configured to analyze the sensor data and determine therefrom the flow rate and the composition of the water present at the water monitoring location; and

    an Internet server computer configured to receive the analyzed sensor data from the analyzing unit,the Internet server computer including a processor and a software program stored in a memory of the Internet server computer, the Internet server computer further including a plurality of instruction interpretable by the processor such that the software program causes the Internet server computer to;

    receive the analyzed sensor data from the analyzing unit; and

    predict the composition and the flow rate of the water present at the water facility based on the composition and flow rate of the water at the water monitoring location and based on a known flow pattern of the water between said water monitoring location and said water facility, the known flow pattern being stored in the memory of the Internet server computer,wherein said analyzing unit is in communication with or is integral with said Internet server computer.
