1. A method for controlling a volume of an infotainment unit of a vehicle having an engine having a stop/start capability during operation of the vehicle, the method comprising the steps of:
- obtaining information pertaining to a condition of the engine, wherein the condition of the engine comprises whether the engine is running, cranking, or turned off; and
controlling the volume based at least in part upon the condition of the engine, wherein if the engine is turned off or cranking, the condition of the engine further comprises whether the engine is in a process of an initial start versus a stop/start cranking event following the initial start and the volume is controlled differently if the engine is in the process of an initial start versus a stop/start cranking event following the initial start.

8. A program product for controlling a volume of an infotainment unit of a vehicle having an engine having a stop/start capability during operation of the vehicle, the program product comprising:
-
a program configured to; obtain information pertaining to a condition of the engine, wherein the condition of the engine comprises whether the engine is running, cranking, or turned off; and control the volume based upon the condition of the engine; wherein if the engine is turned off or cranking, the condition of the engine further comprises whether the engine is in a process of an initial start versus a stop/start cranking event following the initial start and the volume is controlled differently if the engine is in the process of an initial start versus a stop/start cranking event following the initial start; and a non-transitory computer-readable signal-bearing media bearing the program. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11)

12. A system for controlling a volume of an infotainment unit of a vehicle having an engine having a stop/start capability during operation of the vehicle, the system comprising:
-
one or more sensors configured to obtain information pertaining to a condition of the engine, wherein the condition of the engine comprises whether the engine is running, cranking, or turned off; and a processor coupled to the one or more sensors and configured to control the volume based upon the condition of the engine; wherein if the engine is turned off or cranking, the condition of the engine further comprises whether the engine is in a process of an initial start versus a stop/start cranking event following the initial start and the volume is controlled differently if the engine is in the process of an initial start versus a stop/start cranking event following the initial start. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
