1. A method for delivering a stent into a patient, the method comprising the step of:

  • implanting a stent with a coating to a patient in need of said stent;

    wherein said coating comprises one or more layers of a matrix attached to said stent;

    said one or more layers of the matrix containing one or more pharmaceutical substances, wherein the pharmaceutical substance inhibits smooth muscle cell proliferation and/or migration; and

    wherein the coating further comprises a therapeutically effective amount of an antibody, antibody fragments or combinations thereof, and wherein said antibody, antibody fragments or combinations thereof specifically binds to a cell surface antigen of endothelial progenitor cells or endothelial cells in peripheral blood.
