- a mounting unit configured for placement and adherence to a skin of a host prior to sensor use, wherein the mounting unit is configured to receive an electronics unit, wherein the mounting unit comprises a hinge that allows the mounting unit to pivot between a first position configured for sensor insertion and a second position configured for sensor use; and
an analyte sensor configured for transcutaneous placement through a skin of a host, wherein the sensor is configured to extend from the mounting unit into the host.
