1. A system for identifying a location of a remote unit, comprising:
- a main unit configured to be operated while located external to a bounded area that includes a patient, the main unit comprising a display;
a remote unit configured to communicate ultrasound data wirelessly with the main unit while operated inside the bounded area, wherein the main unit and the remote unit are part of an ultrasound imaging system configured to provide a representation of the patient from the ultrasound data on the display;
a locator module in communication with the remote unit, the locator module configured to identify a location of the remote unit relative to the main unit while the main unit and the remote are not physically connected; and
a signal module that provides a notification signal upon establishment of a location of the remote unit relative to the main unit by the locator module, the notification signal indicating that the location of the remote unit relative to the main unit has transitioned from not located to located.

Abstract
The disclosed embodiments include a method, system, and device for conducting ultrasound interrogation of a medium. The method includes transmitting a non-beamformed or beamformed ultrasound wave into the medium, receiving more than one echoed ultrasound wave from the medium, and converting the received echoed ultrasound wave into digital data. The method may further transmit the digital data. The transmission may be wireless. The system may include a main unit, a remote unit, a locator module, transducer elements, an analog-to-digital converter in communication with the transducer elements, and a transmitter in communication with the analog-to-digital converter. The main unit and the remote unit may be part of an ultrasound imaging system and the remote unit may communicate with the main unit. The locator module may communicate with the remote unit or the main unit. The locator module may identify a location of the remote unit or the main unit.

24. A system for identifying a location of a remote unit, comprising:

a main unit; a remote unit configured to receive ultrasound waves, convert the ultrasound waves to ultrasound data, and communicate the ultrasound data wirelessly with the main unit, wherein the main unit and the remote unit are part of an ultrasound imaging system; a locator module in communication with the remote unit, the locator module configured to communicate a wireless signal with the remote unit; and a notification module that provides a notification when a strength of the signal between the locator module and the remote unit falls below a predetermined level, wherein the predetermined level represents a range sufficient to facilitate the wireless communication. - View Dependent Claims (25)
