1. A valve system comprising:

  • a rotary position encoder having at least one encoding wheel, the at least one encoding wheel comprising at least one coding section encoding multiple positions of a valve actuator, the valve system having a plurality of sensors adapted to monitor at least the at least one coding section;

    a timing mechanism including a timing wheel having a plurality of timing marks equally spaced in a concentric pattern around the timing wheel, wherein the plurality of sensors of the valve system and the timing mechanism generate data related to the valve actuator, the data comprising at least one of rotational speed data, position data, torque data, thrust data, and vibration data, wherein each sensor of the plurality of sensors includes a double set of redundant timer sensors for monitoring the plurality of timing marks of the timing wheel, wherein the double set of redundant timer sensors comprises a first sensor positioned on a first side of the timing wheel and a second sensor positioned on a second, opposing side of the timing wheel, and wherein the first sensor and the second sensor each comprise an emitter and a detector positioned adjacent to the emitter; and

    a processor in communication with the plurality of sensors and the timing mechanism convert the data into a frequency domain by utilizing a Fourier transform.
