Apparatus and method for monitoring and controlling detection of stray voltage anomalies
DCFirst Claim
1. A mobile apparatus, configured for mounting to a motor vehicle, for detecting an electric field produced by at least one hazardously energized object comprising:
- at least one sensor probe to detect the electric field and to provide a first signal corresponding to the detected electric field;
an analog to digital converter to digitize the first signal to provide a plurality of time domain samples, each sample representing a magnitude of the electric field;
a signal processor to process the plurality of time domain samples at a desired frequency pertaining to the at least one hazardously energized object and to provide a second signal representing a magnitude of the electric field at the desired frequency; and
a computer to receive the second signal and to provide an indication of the magnitude of the electric field at the desired frequency, wherein the magnitude of the electric field rises above a threshold electric field strength to indicate the existence of the at least one hazardously energized object and wherein the threshold electric field strength is established according to a background electric field strength.
