Gauge wheel and universal scraper for use with a conventional row planter assembly
First Claim
1. A scraper for removing accumulated soil from the wheel of a planter, the wheel of the planter comprising a radially-extending side wall terminating in a circumferentially-extending ground contacting surface, wherein the circumferentially-extending ground contacting surface extends along an outermost circumference of the wheel of the planter such that the ground contacting surface contacts a ground surface, the scraper comprising:
- a scraper arm having a first end and a second end, the first end being adapted for attachment to an axle mounted to a frame of the planter, and the second end for carrying a scraper blade, wherein the scraper arm is sized and shaped so that when the first end of the scraper arm is attached to the axle, the second end presents the scraper blade to the ground-contacting surface of the wheel so as to remove accumulated soil from the ground-contacting surface of the wheel.
