1. A pulse oximetry system comprising:

  • a receiver configured to communicate with a monitor device; and

    a wrist-mountable pulse oximetry device including;

    a wrist mount usable to mount the wrist-mountable pulse oximetry device on a wrist of a user;

    a housing coupled to the wrist mount;

    a sensor interface housed by the housing and configured to receive a sensor signal from a pulse oximetry sensor, the sensor signal indicative of oxygen saturation and pulse rate of the user; and

    a transmitter housed by the housing and configured to;

    modulate a first baseband signal responsive to said sensor signal so as to generate the transmit signal; and

    wirelessly transmit the transmit signal to the receiver,wherein the receiver is further configured to;

    receive the wirelessly transmitted signal from the wrist-mountable pulse oximetry device; and

    adapt the received wirelessly transmitted signal to a monitor-compatible signal utilizing characterization information specific to the monitor device, the monitor-compatible signal adapted for compatibility with the monitor device, the monitor-compatible signal usable by the monitor device to provide physiological parameter measurements consistent with the sensor signal received from the pulse oximetry sensor.
