An infusion pump system, comprising an infusion pump body, a control system connected to a user interface, and an RFID reader external to the infusion pump body, wherein the RFID reader is in communication with the control system, wherein the RFID reader is configured to provide device-assisted data entry to enter a foodstuff identification directly received from an RFID source of a foodstuff to the control system of the infusion pump system, and wherein the control system prompts user input of an amount of said foodstuff in response to said RFID reader directly receiving said foodstuff identification from the RFID source of said foodstuff.

An infusion pump system, comprising an infusion pump body, a control system connected to a user interface, and an RFID reader, wherein the RFID reader is in communication with the control system, wherein the RFID reader is configured to provide device-assisted data entry to enter a foodstuff identification directly received from an RFID source of a foodstuff to the control system of the infusion pump system, wherein the control system prompts user input of an amount of said foodstuff in response to said RFID reader directly receiving said foodstuff identification from the RFID source of said foodstuff, wherein the control system is configured to use the entered foodstuff identification to retrieve foodstuff composition information, and wherein the control system is configured to determine a recommended bolus amount based at least partially on the foodstuff composition information.
