1. An implantable shunt system, comprising:

  • a resilient member;

    a fluid regulating device, connected to the resilient member, that selectively permits fluid flow through an opening valve of an implantable shunt according to an adjustable opening pressure that is proportional to an amount of strain on the resilient member;

    at least one tension sensor, connected to the resilient member, that measures an amount of tension on the resilient member and generates tension data corresponding to the measured amount of tension;

    a communication unit including a transmitting unit that transmits the tension data over a communication link;

    a reading unit that receives the transmitted tension data over the communication link and determines, based on the received tension data, a position of at least one of a plurality of steps of a cam that is connected to the resilient member; and

    a display, connected to the reading unit, that displays at least one visual representation of a position associated with the implantable shunt based on the received tension data.
