1. A boat shelf comprising:

  • (a) a shelf assembly comprising top plate and a frame having a mounting plate and a pair of side plates, wherein (i) the mounting plate has a top and first and second sides, (ii) the side plates extend away from the first side of the mounting plate, (iii) the top plate is above the frame and extends across the top of the mounting plate, (iv) the top plate has a first section extending away from the first side of the mounting plate and coupled in supporting relation to the side plates, and (v) the top plate has a second section extending away from the second side of the mounting plate away from the first section of the top plate; and

    (b) a bracket assembly adapted to secure the shelf assembly to a surface of a boat wherein the first section of the top plate projects outwardly from the surface of the boat, the bracket assembly comprising a bracket having a first set of holes and a second set of holes, a first set of fasteners passing through the first set of holes and adapted to attach the bracket to a surface of a boat, and a second set of fasteners passing through the second set of holes and adapted to attach the bracket to shelf assembly;

    wherein the mounting plate is positioned at the rear of the frame and the bracket assembly is coupled to the mounting plate and includes a pair of spaced apart arms each of said arms having a first leg in face-to-face registration with the second side of mounting plate and a second leg extending in a direction normal to the first leg, said second legs of the spaced apart arms projecting parallel to each other and away from the second side of the mounting plate, said second leg of each arm of the bracket includes means for adjusting the length of the arm, said arms each attached to the mounting plate by the second set of fasteners at a predetermined distance from each other which is adjustable.
