1. A nanocomposite composition comprising:
- a matrix comprising a polymer, wherein said polymer comprises less than 90 weight percent of a poly(conjugated diene), wherein said polymer comprises less than 90 weight percent of a polysiloxane; and
a nanofiller comprising a mixture of agglomerations of cage compounds selected from the group consisting of a carborane cage compound, a metal complex thereof, and a residue thereof, wherein said cage compounds comprise at least 7 cage atoms,wherein said cage compounds are not covalently bound to said polymer, and wherein said nanocomposite has an increased or decreased glass transition temperature, storage modulus, loss modulus, thermal stability, or melt viscosity, as compared to said polymer.
