Abstract

An implementation of a system, device and method for communicating location data of a mobile station, enhancing location data, optimally communicating Assistance Data, and/or reducing rebids of Measure Position Request messages in a wireless network.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

transmitting by a mobile station an emergency services call;

receiving by the mobile station one or more Radio Resource Location Services protocol (RRLP) assistance data messages in response to the emergency services call, the one or more RRLP assistance data messages comprising

a first segment, the first segment including a reference information and a vehicle position information of a first satellite, the reference information including a satellite time of the first satellite and a coarse location estimate for a current position of the mobile station, wherein the satellite time and the coarse location estimate precede the vehicle position information of the first satellite in order of arrival at the mobile station.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more RRLP assistance data messages comprises

a second segment, after the first segment, the second segment including the vehicle position information of a second satellite, wherein the first satellite is more likely viewable to the mobile station than the second satellite.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the vehicle position information of the first satellite comprises almanac and ephemeris data.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving by the mobile station an RRLP measure position request message; and

determining position by the mobile station before the RRLP measure position request message is received, based on the one or more RRLP assistance data messages.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

receiving by the mobile station an extra Radio Resource (RR) message after receiving the RRLP measure position request message;

receiving by the mobile station a rebid RRLP measure position request message after receiving the extra RR message; and

running a GPS engine on the mobile station uninterrupted from when the mobile station receives the extra RR message to when the mobile station receives the rebid RRLP measure position request message.

6. A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

transmitting by a mobile station an emergency services call;

receiving by the mobile station one or more Radio Resource Location Services protocol (RRLP) assistance data messages in response to the emergency services call, the one or more RRLP assistance data messages comprising

a first segment, the first segment including a reference information and a vehicle position information of a first satellite, the reference information including a satellite time of the first satellite and a coarse location estimate for a current position of the mobile station, wherein the satellite time and the coarse location estimate precede the vehicle position information of the first satellite in order of arrival at the mobile station.

7. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6, wherein the one or more RRLP assistance data messages comprises

a second segment, after the first segment, the second segment including the vehicle position information of a second satellite, wherein the first satellite is more likely viewable to the mobile station than the second satellite.

8. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 7, wherein the vehicle position information of the first satellite comprises almanac and ephemeris data.

9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 6, the method performed by the processor further comprising:

receiving by the mobile station an RRLP measure position request message; and

determining position by the mobile station before the RRLP measure position request message is received, based on the one or more RRLP assistance data messages.

10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 9, the method performed by the processor further comprising:

receiving by the mobile station an extra Radio Resource (RR) message after receiving the RRLP measure position request message;

receiving by the mobile station a rebid RRLP measure position request message after receiving the extra RR message; and

running a GPS engine on the mobile station uninterrupted from when the mobile station receives the extra RR message to when the mobile station receives the rebid RRLP measure position request message.

11. A method comprising:

sending by a network a Radio Resource Location Procedure (RRLP) measure position request message in response to receiving an emergency services call;

waiting by the network a time interval after sending the RRLP measure position request message before starting another RRLP session by sending the RRLP measure position request message without assistance data, comprising;

determining by the network a time interval for which an RRLP measure position response is needed, wherein the time interval is equal to the determined time interval for which the RRLP measure position response is needed, less a predetermined time interval; and

receiving by the network the RRLP measure position response in response to sending the RRLP measure position request message without assistance data.

12. A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

sending by a network a Radio Resource Location Procedure (RRLP) measure position request message in response to receiving an emergency services call;

waiting by the network a time interval after sending the RRLP measure position request message before starting another RRLP session by sending the RRLP measure position request message without assistance data, comprising;

determining by the network a time interval for which an RRLP measure position response is needed, wherein the time interval is equal to the determined time interval for which the RRLP measure position response is needed, less a predetermined time interval; and

receiving by the network the RRLP measure position response in response to sending the RRLP measure position request message without assistance data.

13. A mobile station comprising:

a processor;

a memory coupled to the processor, the memory having instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising;

transmitting by the mobile station an emergency services call;

receiving by the mobile station one or more Radio Resource Location Services protocol (RRLP) assistance data messages in response to the emergency services call, the one or more RRLP assistance data messages comprising

a first segment, the first segment including a reference information and a vehicle position information of a first satellite, the reference information including a satellite time of the first satellite and a coarse location estimate for a current position of the mobile station, wherein the satellite time and the coarse location estimate precede the vehicle position information of the first satellite in order of arrival at the mobile station.

14. The mobile station of claim 13, wherein the one or more RRLP assistance data messages comprises

a second segment, after the first segment, the second segment including the vehicle position information of a second satellite, wherein the first satellite is more likely viewable to the mobile station than the second satellite.

15. The mobile station of claim 14, wherein the vehicle position information of the first satellite comprises almanac and ephemeris data.

16. The mobile station of claim 13, the method performed by the processor further comprising:

receiving by the mobile station an RRLP measure position request message; and

determining position by the mobile station before the RRLP measure position request message is received, based on the one or more RRLP assistance data messages.

17. The mobile station of claim 16, the method performed by the processor further comprising:

receiving by the mobile station an extra Radio Resource (RR) message after receiving the RRLP measure position request message;

receiving by the mobile station a rebid RRLP measure position request message after receiving the extra RR message; and

running a GPS engine on the mobile station uninterrupted from when the mobile station receives the extra RR message to when the mobile station receives the rebid RRLP measure position request message.
