1. An apparatus for masking an incoming call from a portable communication device (PCD) in a vehicle, the apparatus comprising:
- a controller configured to;
receive a driver status signal indicative of a driver being one of a primary driver and a secondary driver;
transmit a first signal to a PCD to block a notification of an incoming call in the event the driver status signal indicates that the driver is the secondary driver; and
transmit an ignition status signal indicative of the vehicle being in one of an operational mode and a non-operational mode to the PCD to enable the PCD to provide the notification of the incoming call after the incoming call was blocked in the event the vehicle is in the non-operational mode.

Abstract
In at least one embodiment, an apparatus for masking an in-coming call from a portable communication device (PCD) in a vehicle is provided. The apparatus comprises a controller that is configured to receive a driver status signal indicative of a driver being one of a primary driver and a secondary driver. The controller is further configured to transmit a first signal to a PCD to block a notification of an incoming call in the event the driver status signal indicates that the driver is the secondary driver.

8. An apparatus for interfacing with a portable communication device (PCD), the apparatus comprising:
a controller in a vehicle and configured to; receive a first signal indicative of a driver being in a drowsy state; and transmit a second signal to the PCD to enable the PCD to receive a notification of an incoming call in the event the first signal indicates that the driver is in the drowsy state while the vehicle is in motion. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12)
