1. A method for operating a mobile asset, comprising:
- supplying an engine with a fuel controller a first amount of a first fuel and a second amount of a second fuel and combusting the first fuel and the second fuel at a fuel combustion ratio in at least one cylinder of the engine, the first amount and the second amount being selected based on route information for a fixed route along which the mobile asset is operable to travel, fuel market information, and a projected exhaustion of the first fuel that does not precede a projected exhaustion of the second fuel, wherein the first amount and the second amount are selected further based on a remaining quantity of the first fuel in a first fuel source and a remaining quantity of the second fuel in a second fuel source, and wherein the mobile asset is unable to operate with the second fuel alone.

Abstract
Embodiments of methods and systems related to operating a mobile asset over a fixed route are provided. In one example, an engine system is provided. The example engine system includes a fuel controller configured to adjust a first amount of at least one of a first fuel of a plurality of fuels delivered to an engine and a second amount of a second fuel of the plurality of fuels responsive to at least one of fuel market information for the plurality of fuels or route information about a fixed route along which a mobile asset powered by the engine is operable to travel.

12. A method for operating a consist, the method comprising:
-
receiving route information for a fixed route along which the consist is traveling or will travel; receiving fuel market information for a first fuel and a second fuel, the first fuel and the second fuel being combustible in an engine in a first mobile asset of the consist; generating a motive power setting based upon the route information and the fuel market information so that a projected exhaustion of the first fuel does not precede a projected exhaustion of the second fuel; and supplying with a fuel controller a first amount of the first fuel and a second amount of the second fuel to an engine in a mobile asset of the consist, wherein the first amount and the second amount are selected further based on a remaining quantity of the first fuel in a first fuel source and a remaining quantity of the second fuel in a second fuel source, and wherein the mobile asset is unable to operate with the second fuel alone. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17)

18. An engine system, comprising:
-
a fuel controller configured to determine a projected fuel supply rate to an engine for a first fuel of a plurality of fuels and a projected fuel supply rate to the engine for a second fuel of the plurality of fuels based upon route information about a fixed route along which a mobile asset powered by the engine is operable to travel; and adjust at least one of a first amount of the first fuel and a second amount of the second fuel supplied to the engine for combustion relative to the projected fuel supply rate for the first fuel and the projected fuel supply rate for the second fuel responsive to at least one of fuel market information for the plurality of fuels or mobile asset operational information. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20, 21, 22, 23)
