1. An apparatus for determining the spatial position, velocity, and trajectory of a spherical object comprising:

  • a projecting means for projecting a first plurality of parallel beams of light within a first plane with a separation distances, between adjacent beams less than the radius of the spherical object;

    a detecting means for detecting the blockage of each beam of light from the projecting means by the spherical object;

    an instrumentation means for measuring a time of each beam blockage relative to each beam that is blocked by the spherical object; and

    a computing means for computing the position, velocity, and trajectory of the spherical object based on the times, the beam separation distance, and the diameter of the spherical object.
