Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH437976. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH437976, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH437976 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH437976.

7. A seed produced by crossing
(a) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety CV344635, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant of variety CV246752, (b) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety CV246752, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant of variety CV344635, or (c) a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety CV246752, or a selfed progeny thereof, with a plant produced by introducing by backcrossing or transformation a transgene into a plant of variety CV344635, or a selfed progeny thereof, wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce a first or second plant further comprising the transgene, and wherein representative seed of said varieties CV344635 and CV246752 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-11791 and PTA-121470, respectively, and wherein the transgene is inherited by the seed.

A seed of the hybrid corn variety CH437976, further comprising at least a first single locus conversion, produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV344635 with a second plant of variety CV246752, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV344635 and CV246752 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-11791 and PTA-121470, respectively, and wherein one or both of the first plant and second plant further comprises the single locus conversion, and wherein a plant grown from said seed comprises a trait conferred by said at least first single locus conversion.

13. A method of introducing a heritable trait into hybrid corn variety CH437976 comprising the steps of:

(a) introducing at least a first heritable trait into at least one inbred corn variety selected from the group consisting of variety CV344635 and variety CV246752 to produce a plant of a first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait, wherein the heritable trait is introduced into said first inbred corn variety by backcrossing, and wherein representative samples of seed of variety CV344635 and variety CV246752 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-11791 and PTA-121470, respectively; and (b) crossing a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the trait with a plant of a different variety selected from said group consisting of CV344635 and CV246752 to produce a plant of hybrid corn variety CH437976 comprising the heritable trait. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16)
