1. A system for glycemic control of a diabetic patient, the system comprising:

  • a blood glucose meter configured to measure a blood glucose level of a blood sample from the diabetic patient; and

    a smart phone in communication with the blood glucose meter and controlled by the diabetic patient, the smart phone executing instructions of a glucose application that cause the smart phone to;

    receive a current blood glucose measurement from the blood glucose meter;

    receive a prescription from a remote computer system that was manually input by an authorized medical professional, the prescription comprising;

    extreme hyperglycemia patient instructions associated with an extreme hyperglycemia blood glucose range defined by first upper and lower blood glucose limits;

    typical hyperglycemia patient instructions associated with a typical hyperglycemia blood glucose range defined by second upper and lower blood glucose limits, the second upper blood glucose limit less than the first lower blood glucose limit;

    typical hypoglycemia patient instructions associated with a typical hypoglycemia blood glucose range defined by third upper and lower blood glucose limits, the third upper blood glucose limit less than the second lower blood glucose limit; and

    extreme hypoglycemia patient instructions associated with an extreme hypoglycemia blood glucose range defined by fourth upper and lower blood glucose limits, the fourth upper blood glucose limit less than the third lower blood glucose limit;

    send the current blood glucose measurement of the patient to the remote system; and

    send parameters to the remote computer system, the parameters comprising at least one of a type of food, a quantity of food that the patient has ingested, a time when the patient ingested the food, or a future time when the patient plans on ingesting food;

    wherein the remote computer system;

    receives the prescription from a medical professional computer associated with the authorized medical professional, the medical professional computer in communication with the remote computer system;

    calculates a prescribed number of units of insulin to control a blood glucose value of the patient, the calculated number of prescribed units of insulin based on the parameters received from the smart phone and a patient past history comprising previously received parameters associated with the patient, the prescribed number of units of insulin comprising a correction dosage calculated as;
