Methods for modulating immune responses
First Claim
1. A method for down-regulating the immune response an allogeneic graft tissue or organ exhibits when it is transplanted into a subject, the method comprising the step of simultaneously transplanting the allogeneic graft tissue or organ and a purified population of CD 117-negative Amnion-derived Multipotent Progenitor (AMP) cells into the subject such that the AMP cells down-regulate the immune response exhibited by the allogeneic graft tissue or organ.

Abstract
The invention is directed to novel methods for modulating inflammatory and/or immune responses. Such methods utilize compositions comprising extraembryonic cells (herein referred to as EE cells) including but not limited to extraembryonic HLA-G positive cells (herein referred to as EHP cells) and amnion-derived multipotent progenitor cells (herein referred to as AMP cells); compositions comprising expanded EE cell populations, and/or cell lysates and/or conditioned media derived therefrom, alone or in combination with each other and/or in combination with various extracellular matrices and/or devices and/or other suitable active agents.

A method for improving engraftment of an allogeneic graft tissue or organ that is transplanted into a subject in need thereof, the method comprising the step of simultaneously transplanting the allogeneic graft tissue or organ and a purified population of CD117-negative AMP cells into the subject such that the AMP cells down-regulate a GVHD response following the transplantation such that improved engraftment of the allogeneic graft tissue or organ results.
