1. A consumable assembly for use in an extrusion-based layered deposition system having a moveable head mount, wherein the consumable assembly comprises:
- a container comprising;
a container casing configured to be received by the extrusion-based layered deposition system at a location that is offset from the moveable head mount, and having an interior region; and
a filament spool rotatably retained within the interior region, the filament spool supporting a filament;
an extrusion head comprising;
an extrusion head casing, wherein part of the extrusion head casing is configured to be insertable into and subsequently removable from the moveable head mount; and
a liquefier coupled to the extrusion head casing including at least a portion disposed outside of the extrusion head casing;
a filament guide comprising;
a first portion coupled to the container;
a second portion coupled to the head; and
a length between the first and second portions, wherein the filament guide operatively couples the container and the extrusion head and is configured to support the filament between the container and the extrusion head;
wherein the container, the extrusion head, and the filament guide are configured to remain operatively coupled together upon removal of the consumable assembly from the extrusion-based layered deposition system.

9. A consumable assembly for use in an extrusion-based layered deposition system having a movable head mount, wherein the consumable assembly comprises:

a container comprising; a container casing configured to be received by the extrusion-based layered deposition system at a location that is offset from the moveable head mount, and having an interior region; a spool rotatably retained within the interior region; an extrusion head comprising; an extrusion head casing configured to be insertable into the movable head mount in a replacably interchangeable manner; a liquefier comprising; a first liquifier portion retained by the extrusion head casing; and a second liquifier portion located outside of the extrusion head casing; a filament guide having a first portion coupled to the container and a second portion coupled to the extrusion head such that the first and second portions of the filament guide are configured to remain respectively coupled to the container and the extrusion head when the consumable assembly is removed from the extrusion-based layered deposition system; and a filament comprising; compositionally, a thermoplastic material; a first portion wound on the spool; and a second portion that extends from the container, through the filament guide, and into the extrusion head. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14)

a container comprising; a container casing configured to be received by the loading bay, and having an interior region; and a filament spool rotatably retained within the interior region; an extrusion head comprising; an extrusion head casing configured to be insertable into the moveable head mount; a liquefier retained by the extrusion head casing and comprising an extrusion tip; a filament guide comprising; a first portion disposed within the interior region of the container casing; a second portion disposed within the extrusion head casing; and a length between the first and second portions, wherein the filament guide interconnects the container and the extrusion head such that the first and second ends of the filament guide are configured to remain respectively within the container and the extrusion head when the consumable assembly is removed from the extrusion-based layered deposition system. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
