1. A method comprising:
- exchanging via a processor an event identification code between two or more wireless nodes over an ad-hoc mesh network via an anonymous message while attending an event corresponding to the exchanged event identification code, wherein at least one of the two or more wireless nodes previously stores the event identification code prior to the exchanging based on an event invitation including the event identification code, and wherein the at least one of the two or more wireless nodes is a wireless device of a user; and
establishing via the processor whether the user is at the event corresponding to the stored event identification code by comparison of the exchanged event identification code received by the wireless device of the user with the stored event identification code.

Abstract
An approach is provided for providing a collaborative reply to a flooding message over an ad-hoc mesh network. A reply message to a flooding message is received by a wireless node within the ad-hoc network. The wireless node monitors for an acknowledgement of receipt of the reply message according to a routing table and initiates a scheduled transmission of the reply message based on the monitoring.

8. An apparatus comprising:
-
at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program code for one or more programs, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following; exchange an event identification code between two or more wireless nodes over an ad-hoc mesh network via an anonymous message while attending an event corresponding to the exchanged event identification code, wherein at least one of the two or more wireless nodes previously stores the event identification code prior to the exchanging based on an event invitation including the event identification code, and wherein the at least one of the two or more wireless nodes is a wireless device of a user; and establish whether the user is at the event corresponding to the stored event identification code by comparison of the exchanged event identification code received by the wireless device of the user with the stored event identification code. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14)
