1. A luminaire comprising:
- a housing;
a first light engine disposed within the housing and configured to create a first illumination distribution;
a second light engine disposed within the housing and configured to create a second illumination distribution different from the first illumination distribution; and
a controller communicatively coupled with the first light engine and the second light engine, the controller being configured to activate the first light engine and the second light engine independently, wherein;
the first illumination distribution distributes light from the first light engine between an angle at or near nadir and a first cutoff angle; and
the second illumination distribution distributes light from the second light engine between a second cutoff angle and a third cutoff angle, wherein the first cutoff angle, the second cutoff angle, and the third cutoff angle are measured from nadir in the same direction.

Abstract
Embodiments of the invention include a luminaire that includes a plurality of different light engines. Light engines having different light distributions can be included in a single luminaire and a subset of the light engines selectively driven to dynamically change the light distribution of the luminaire. In this way, a single luminaire is capable of illuminating an area with a variety of different light distributions.
