1. A single-use cartridge for performing an immunoassay, comprising:

  • a sample entry port for receiving a blood sample suspected of containing a target analyte,a conduit containing an electrode,a region containing a wash fluid,a waste chamber,immobilized first antibody capable of binding to said target analyte,second antibody disposed in a solubilizing agent disposed within said conduit and capable of binding to said target analyte, wherein the second antibody is attached to a first single stranded nucleotide, andone or more signal elements each attached to a second single stranded nucleotide having complimentary base pairs to the first single stranded nucleotide;

    wherein;

    the wash fluid is capable of washing said blood sample from said electrode in said conduit into said waste chamber, anda 3′

    -end or 5′

    -end of the a first single stranded nucleotide and the a second single stranded nucleotide is protected from endogenous exonuclease activity from said blood sample within the conduit by incorporating a protective chemical group.
