1. A method for charging a rechargeable battery installed in a medical device adapted for implanting in a patient, comprising the steps of:
- providing a charging signal including energy to charge said rechargeable battery during a charging session;
obtaining a plurality of values of a charging parameter indicating a charging condition over some period of time during said charging session;
using a controller for automatically statistically analyzing said plurality of values of said charging parameter; and
updating said charging signal based on a result of said step of statistically analyzing said plurality of values of said charging parameter during said charging session.
