1. A power machine having an engine that generates a torque output and a power conversion system configured to receive the torque output and provide a drive power signal in response to actuation signals for propelling the machine, comprising:

  • an engine controller configured to provide an engine torque data signal indicative of a torque load on the engine;

    a user input device configured to generate an input signal indicative of manipulation of the user input device by the user to command the machine to be propelled; and

    an electronic controller in communication with the user input device, the power conversion system, and the engine controller and configured to receive the input signal and provide actuation signals to the power conversion system, wherein the electronic controller is further configured to provide the actuation signals as a function of the engine torque data signal to limit the engine torque load, and wherein the electronic controller is configured to reduce a displacement of a hydrostatic pump when the engine torque is above a given torque load even when the input signal from the user input device is indicative of a manipulation of the user input device to command an increase in the displacement of the hydrostatic pump.
