Mobile station position estimation using transmitter almanac information
First Claim
1. A method for estimating positions of a mobile station, the method comprising:
- sending a request, from the mobile station, for almanac information for wireless transmitters of one or more wireless communications networks, the request including one or more indications of one or more routes;
receiving, at the mobile station, the almanac information for wireless transmitters of the one or more wireless communications networks, the almanac information being for a subset of wireless transmitters of the wireless transmitters of the one or more wireless communications networks, the subset of wireless transmitters being expected to contribute to position estimations of the mobile station along the one or more routes;
acquiring signals, at the mobile station, from a plurality of wireless transmitters of the subset of wireless transmitters; and
estimating, at the mobile station, a plurality of positions of the mobile station using at least one of the acquired signals from the plurality of wireless transmitters.
