1. A first device, comprising:

  • a substrate;

    a plurality of OLED circuit elements disposed on the substrate, wherein each of the OLED circuit elements comprises one and only one pixel, and wherein each of the OLED circuit elements includes a fuse;

    a top conductive layer andan insulating layer;

    wherein the fuse is adapted to open an electrical connection in response to excess current in the pixel;

    wherein each pixel further comprises;

    a first patterned electrode;

    a second electrode; and

    an organic electroluminescent (EL) material disposed between the first and the second electrodes;

    wherein the second electrode is disposed over the substrate, the organic EL material is disposed over the second electrode, and the first electrode is disposed over the organic EL material;

    wherein each of the plurality of OLED circuit elements is not electrically connected in series with any other of the OLED circuit elements;

    wherein for each of the plurality of OLED circuit elements;

    the insulating layer is disposed over a part of the first electrode; and

    the top conductive layer is disposed over the insulator;

    wherein the fuse electrically connects the first electrode of each of the plurality of OLED circuit elements to the top conductive layer.
