1. A remotely based catheter guidance system, comprising:
- a medical device manipulator assembly comprising at least one motor;
a medical device associated with the medical device manipulator assembly;
a display device; and
an electronic control unit (ECU) configured to control the display device and configured to send an actuation control signal to the at least one motor of the medical device manipulator assembly to control a plurality of actuation control units disposed within the medical device, wherein the actuation control signal is configured to move or bend the medical device, and wherein the ECU comprising a processor and a computer readable storage media containing logic, the ECU being configured to execute the logic to;
generate a user-guided configuration routine;
generate a configuration graphical user interface for providing information related to the user-guided configuration routine and receiving an input from a user;
display the configuration graphical user interface on the display; and
receive the input for configuring the medical device;
whereby the ECU calibrates the medical device in accordance with the input, and wherein the calibration by the ECU is configured to establish a minimum tension on at least one steering wire of the medical device.

1. A remotely based catheter guidance system, comprising:

13. A method for configuring a medical device of a remotely based catheter guidance system, comprising:

displaying on a display device a configuration graphical user interface for conveying information and receiving user input directing the calibration of a medical device of a remotely based catheter guidance system; receiving user input through the configuration graphical user interface directing the calibration of the medical device; receiving data at an electronic control unit (ECU) from a medical device manipulator assembly; analyzing the data to identify one or more configuration steps to be executed; executing a configuration step in response to the user input comprising establishing a minimum tension on at least one steering wire of the medical device; and sending actuation control signals from the ECU to at least one motor of the medical device manipulator assembly wherein the actuation control signals are configured to move or bend the medical device. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
