1. A lamp comprising:

  • a thermally conductive body;

    at least one solid-state excitation source mounted in thermal communication with the body;

    a photoluminescence component containing a photoluminescence material, wherein the component is hollow and encloses the at least one excitation source; and

    a light transmissive cover containing a light diffusive material,wherein the cover encloses the photoluminescence component and comprises a plurality of areas having different diffusivities,wherein the plurality of areas comprises a first area and a second area, and the first area corresponds to a first diffusivity and the second area corresponds to a second diffusivity, andwherein the first diffusivity is different from the second diffusivity.
